Battalion S-8: Finance / IMIN

Hello everyone, I am c/1LT Mendez, I will be your S8 for this 2023-2024 school year. As your S8 you should know that I will be dealing with the finance book. Meaning that I will be keeping our AJROTC program's money in order. I am the one to sign off on all payments and make sure to have as many fundraisers, to be able to fund our programs to have all the fun activities for all you cadets to enjoy.
Outside of AJROTC a few things about me is that I help out my parents with their small business, I enjoy bonding with family and friends and I like to dance to Spanish music. I love going on hikes/hanging out at the beach, I enjoy cooking and baking (especially when I do catering for events), and finally I love challenging myself and trying out new things.
JROTC Career
In the second quarter of my freshman year, I started as a cadet private in Delta company and I was there for the rest of the school year. However, in my second semester of freshman year, I was offered the position of a second squad leader for the first platoon. In my sophomore year, I had AJROTC once again and one of our AI’s offered me the position of being company commander for Alpha company (I absolutely loved it). I did this for a full semester and for my second semester I had AJROTC for the third time but I wasn't in Alpha company anymore I was in Bravo company. I got to take the role of company commander again and I was really happy and excited because being able to be part of such a good community and being able to learn the important parts of leadership was very important to me.
Academics
I'm a junior and I am part of the school of college connections and the reason why I chose this school is because it is originally known for the school of business. I’ve always loved the idea of owning my own business and just being able to be my own boss. This will be my second year taking college classes from Mesa College.
